About us

DEFCON Rajasthan (DC91141) was founded in 2011. It is located in Jaipur (India). Its aim is to give users (experienced and others) a platform to exchange thoughts and ideas about information security. The exchange of information has two goals:

  •     Transfer knowledge in the information security domain,
  •     To sensitize users to information security.

Defcon Rajasthan (DC91141) is a Defcon Registered group of people interested in exploring technology and it implications in security. It mostly consists of information assurance professionals and enthusiasts.
The main purpose of this group is to organize technical talks and hands on experience on topics of interest. While seasoned speakers will be invited to present for the initial several presentations. Our intention is to have local people with less experience present as well. This will allow younger professionals and researchers to get used to preparing a technical presentation and sharing it with an audience.

Why?

The main motivation behind this group is to have a place where technical people can discuss technical topics and problems and hopefully find solutions to them. There are multiple social groups of security professionals in the India but none of them seams to stick outside of the pub... so as a result, during one of those meetings, the idea was born and here it is...

The Defcon Groups were spawned from the annual Defcon security conference in Las Vegas. The Defcon Groups (DCGs or DC-Groups) are a gathering point for folks interested in the alternate applications of modern technology, referred to properly as ‘hacking’. DCGs are not intended to compete with any other computer groups, such as 2600, but rather to provide yet another gathering place for the discussion of technology and security topics. DCG meetings are open to anyone, regardless of their skill, age, job, gender, etc. DCGs are designed to help you learn new things, meet new people, mentor others in areas you may be strong in, and provide some cohesion within the hacker culture and it’s members.

In order to achieve this goal DEFCON Rajasthan will organize local, regional an national events. Furthermore members of the association have access to a forum where they can discuss, exchange ideas, take part on projects or find people to launch new projects.

DEFCON Rajasthan is not a bar in the Futurama television series (Matt Groening), neither a video game nor the Defense Condition of the Indian military. DEFCON Rajasthan is registered with DEFCON hacker convention in Las Vegas as DEFCON Group (DC91141). The association is open for everyone, not only geeks, nerds, hackers or other unexplored species.
